About PBS

School-wide Positive Behavior Support (SWPBS) is a systems approach to establishing the whole-school social culture and intensive individual behavior supports needed for school to achieve social and academic gains while minimizing problem behavior for all students. SWPBS is NOT a specific curriculum, intervention or practice, but a decision making framework that guides selection, integration and implementation of scientifically-based academic and behavioral practices for improving academic and behavior outcomes for all students. A central feature of SWPBS is implementation of behavioral practices throughout the entire school. SWPBS defines practices that all students experience in all parts of the school and at all times of day.

  • Fewer behavior problems
  • Improved school climate
  • Reduction in discipline referrals
    • i.e.—Every faculty and staff member will have a protocol to follow.
  • Safer schools
  • More time spent on instruction and less on discipline

The mission of Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support (MO SW-PBS) is to assist schools and districts in establishing and maintaining school environments where the social culture and behavioral supports needed to be an effective learning environment is in place for all students.

The power of PBS at Line Creek is that we have building wide expectations for all areas of the building. The expectations are called The Big Three and focus on three key behaviors of Safe, Respectful, and Responsible.

When students show The Big Three they are honored with a building wide currency (Paws) which they can exchange for menu items. Students respond well to PBS and desire to showcase behavior that supports the overall mission of the building.

Student Pledge

A student pledge is said on a daily basis to remind our community of The Big Three:

Today, I will do my best. I promise to respect myself, others, and my school. I promise to learn and achieve by using The Big 3 in all I do. At Line Creek, All Belong, All Learn, Lions Succeed!
